I am almost 95 years old. Back in 1983, I was in a car accident and lost most of my hearing. I can only hear 4% in one ear and 15% in the other. I have been through many hearing aids and none have really helped me. I live with my daughter and she says that I am just dreaming and nothing will restore my hearing.
I really wish I would find a good brand? Is it possible that maybe a good brand does exist?
I am hard of hearing and I wear hearing aids however in class last semester, I still had a very hard time hearing. The office of disability support on my campus offered a FM listening device. Will that work better? If so, what is the purpose of spending thousands of dollars on hearing aids (besides convenience) when you can get a listening device for so cheap? I have made appointments to get my hearing evaluated and my hearing aids checked.
I’m currently attending school full-time and working a full-time job at Walt Disney World for 7 dollars an hour. Between the tuition for school, and my other bills, and rent, I am having trouble saving enough money for new hearing aids Iām starting to need.
Since hearing aids are not covered by insurance and the prices of them are sky-high, I’m afraid I will not have enough money saved to buy new hearing aids by the time I need them.
I hate to ask for charity but I’m starting to be backed into a corner. Any suggestion about what I could do?
Would it cause permanent hearing loss? Would it cause hearing loss significant enough for you to notice it? I’m doing a report on ipods and hearing loss in teens but I can’t seem to find any data on hearing loss per hour. Please Help! I only listen to my ipod about 1/5 the volume and not for long periods of time, will I experience hearing loss?

Guys today I was in my friend’s infinity i30, and some girls in there too. I was in back seat and they turned up the music to full volume. It was really loud but it wasnt like hurting my ears. Although we had to talk louder to hear each other. I was in there for about 10 min, did I get hearing loss?
lol thanks guys but the reason I was worred is that I DID hear some VERY faint tinnitus in my right ear but only for like 7 seconds after I got out of the car.
Also, I couldn’t hear what my friends were saying for a little while, this is why I’m worried
I know but I told them to turn it down but they wouldn’t. It’s not like I had control of the situation…
My husband has a hard time hearing me when we travel in our truck. On long trips this can be frustrating for both of us. Has anyone purchased one of the cheapy hearing aids, 0ish, and is it worth it?
Thanks for input!
