I am 32 years old and have been told last week that I have hearing loss in both ears and that the one is much worse. There is a good chance I wont get any improvement on this in fact its probably going to only get worse. How do I deal with loosing my hearing at such an early age? Its driving me nuts already to keep making people repeat themselves. Im depressed and hurt and just dont know how to deal with the thought I might loose my hearing alltogether.

Be upfront with your problem and have people face you when they talk
You will cope and adapt
Get in touch with office of vocational rehab for help in getting hearing evaluated and aids…they also help for the work environment adaptation so you can continue working
Let your supervisor know
Take classes on sign language (it is a beautiful language to learn) and help young parents whose children are having speech problems practice signing. You will gain friends
There are many people with this problem and dont do anything to help themselves
See your family doctor, he/she will probably refer you to an ear/nose/throat specialist, who will probably recommend hearing aids.
I’m sorry to hear abt ur hearing loss. It’s a sweet gift that we all take granted for. Don’t be shy to ask people to repeat. U may want to learn a little sign language and lip reading. Have u talked to the doctors about any medical hearing aids u could use? If those hearing aids can’t help u and it’s more of a nerve damage then I suggest looking into having a cochlea implant. However I don’t think any doctor will recommend it to u unless, I don’t mean to upset u, u r virtually deaf. Then u may consider a cochlea implant which really is a medical wonder and the procedure is very easy and safe. However u should try taking care of ears as much as u can, avoiding loud decibels, wax in the ears, etc. Perhaps the damage could get better…but I don’t want to give u false hope. I hope this helps. i lost most of my hearing years ago i had tonsil cancer so from the raditiontreatments i lost most my hearing and my slovia glands i have a hearing aid but there are times even that dosent help it is verry agarvatingfor you and the other people to but as time passes youll get used to it and learn how to cope with it my friend i did good luck to you
